Since my (Florian) birthday was so close to our departure date, Nina and I decided to combine those two. Have a last birthday / good-bye get-together with as many friends as we could rally. It was a great and only at times bitter-sweet evening. 

It is always sad that not everyone can make it – but that is just to be expected if you try to get all of them in one place at the same time. Some very dear friends were missed (with very good excuses, of course). It was great, anyway, to see so many of our friend together once more. It will certainly be a while before we all meet again like that.

That is what makes it bitter-sweet – with everyone here, there wasn’t nearly enough quality time with each one for what our friendship would deserve. That is just how it’s got to be. We will try to meet them again before we leave, as often as our schedule allows it.
