Makara Beach Walk

On Monday, 1st of October, the weather was really nice and sunny again so I decided to have a short day of studying. Flo and I wanted to do the Makara Beach Walk along the shore. Tina also thought that’s a good idea so she tagged along. We went out to the beach in Tina’s and Brendan’s car and I realized that motorbikes and cars are quite different. With all those curves, I felt quite motion sick.

It was very, very windy and the sea was quite rough. We started the walk and, a couple of meters in, found a sign saying that the inland walkway is closed due to lambing. Apparently, you have to cross pastures and the sheep need their rest as they have lambs.
So we took the route at the shoreline…being almost blown away by the wind. Also, the tide was quite high already. Combined with the wind and a couple of narrow passes through rocks, Tina and I thought the tide might come in even higher and cut us off from the way back. We’d rather avoid that and turned back to the inland track until we came to the first pasture fence. The inland track basically led all the way up on the ridge of the hills right above the beach walkway. Again, it was very, very windy and both, Tina and Flo, went so close to the edge that it made me feel dizzy already. :s
All in all it was a lovely day…and Tina took so many gorgeous pictures that I couldn’t reduce them to under fifty. So to not make this post too big, we’ve uploaded them on picasa.
